Hilde Back Education Fund (HBEF) is a Kenyan charitable organization assisting children from poor families to complete secondary school education in Kenya. HBEF'S focus is the promotion of education as a fundamental human right. HBEF seeks to support bright but needy children by awarding academic scholarships; regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. Today, HBEF has supported the education of 835 beneficiaries enrolled in different schools across the nation. HBEF is the subject of an Emmy-nominated documentary called A Small Act, which tells founder Chris Mburu's story.
